Montezuma School to Farm Project: Connecting our farming heritage with our growing future.
Montezuma School to Farm Project runs three student gardens - one at Mancos Public School, one at Dolores Public School, and one in collaboration with the City of Cortez at the Cortez Recreation Center. These gardens are successfully utilized to teach Seed to Table curriculums that use Colorado State Content Standards to educate Montezuma County youth about water and soil conservation, healthy eating habits, active lifestyles, and local foods.
We also offer School to Farm Field trips to students K-12 in Cortez, Mancos, and Dolores Public Schools.
Summer camps are offered every summer for 5 - 10 year olds in collaboration with the Cortez Recreation Center. In addition we have paired up with Cooking Matters and the Cortez Recreation Center to offer two summer camps for middle and highschool students interested in becoming Chefs!
We are funded by LiveWell Montezuma and the Colorado State Conservation Board through the Mancos Conservation District. In addition we have received grants from private donors and many donations from local businesses.
